It is very adaptable to a wide range of light conditions. It will thrive in shaded areas as well as areas with bright, indirect sunlight. It is more tolerant of dense shade than other common bromeliads. The more sunlight it receives, the more moisture it will require to prevent leaf burn.

Watering this plant should be light. The soil should never be more than slightly moist and never allowed to dry out completely. The top half of the plant can be allowed to dry out between waterings.

It is recommended that the temperature be between 18 and 24 degrees Celsius and never drop below 13 degrees Celsius. Therefore, the temperature in your home or apartment is ideal for its growth. The ideal location is in a place where there is no direct sunlight on the plant.

Fertilize two to three times monthly from April to October. Use a specially formulated water-soluble fertilizer, applied according to the label's recommendations. Alternatively, use an all-purpose fertilizer diluted to one-quarter to one-eighth the solution recommended on the label.
