Scarlet Knight's Star (Hippeastrum puniceum) is a perennial with a bulbous stem that grows 12 to 18 inches tall. It blooms profusely most months of the year, producing large orange flowers that range from 6 to 12 inches long. It thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers slightly acidic soil. It remains dormant after flowering.
