The peacock flower shrub is also called dwarf poinciana because of its resemblance to the poinciana tree. Its scientific name is Caesalpinia pulcherrima. It may reach a height of 3 metres. Produces flowers that mix between bright orange and yellow in one petal. The flowers are grouped in clusters about 5 cm in diameter, and one cluster holds about 40 flowers. After the flowers wither, the fruits or seeds come out in their place in what looks like a horn that spreads the seeds when it dries and splits, and sometimes its splitting looks like an explosion. It is fast growing and can be used as a fence. It is attractive to butterflies and birds. It is a poisonous plant. And there are other types of hybrids for their flowers in several colors. It can be propagated by seeds or suspended from soft twigs in well-drained soil.
