The Pilea Peperomioides, commonly known as the "Chinese Money Plant," "Pancake Plant," or "Friendship Plant," is a favorite for interior styling due to its minimalist and modern appearance.
1. General Description
Origin: Native to the Yunnan Province in Southern China.
Vibe: Popular as a "lucky" indoor plant, symbolizing prosperity and wealth.
Ease of Care: Known for being low-maintenance and resilient, making it ideal for beginners.
Environment: Prefers bright, indirect sunlight and well-draining soil.
2. Physical Appearance
Leaves: Perfectly circular, flat, and succulent-like. They have a vibrant green color and a smooth, waxy texture.
Structure: The leaves grow on long, thin petioles (leaf stalks) that attach to the center of the leaf, creating a "floating" umbrella effect.
Stem: It features a central upright stem that becomes woody as the plant matures. Over time, it can take on a "mini tree" look.
3. Propagation (How it spreads)
Offshoots (Pups): This is the most common method. The mother plant grows tiny "babies" directly from its root system through the soil. Once they are about 5–7 cm tall, they can be clipped and replanted.
Stem Cuttings: You can take a cutting from the main stem and place it in water. It will develop roots within a few weeks before it's ready for potting.
The plant does not include the pot.
